It is surely a strange question. Eating the skin of the kiwi, so hairy and ugly to the touch … Yes! Not only can you eat the skin of the kiwi if we wash it correctly, but it has a lot of benefits for our body.
Benefits of eating kiwi skin
The peel is crunchy, and adds a flavor and texture very different from how we usually eat it. In fact, many people associate this additional flavor with eating a peach, due to its hairy texture and bitter touches. We can eat the kiwi as if it were an apple. Bite-sized and whole, with no heart to throw away once we're done. They are all advantages!
It is worth mentioning that as with any fruit, we must wash it very well to avoid the ingestion of bacteria, or dirt.
Among other things, the kiwi peel is a very rich source of vitamins, minerals, and especially fiber.
Wash the kiwi peel
First of all, we must wash our hands with soap and warm water, in order to avoid transmitting bacteria to the kiwi peel. It should be remembered that we must rinse properly so as not to stain the surface with soap.
Afterwards, we rinse the kiwi with a jet of cold water, being careful not to rub too much, as it dents easily.
We scrub with a soft bristle vegetable brush, thus loosening the remaining dirt. We rinse completely again under another stream of cold water, and we can now eat the skin of the kiwi with complete peace of mind.
